Field of Action: Environmental Sustainability

Brief Description: Following the 1992 Rio Summit a group of professionals decided to create a non profit organization that would focus on helping the rural poor protect and make good use of their natural resources. The result was an ongoing effort to promote local Panamanian development among these low income groups through productive self sustainability, and technical-financial assistance by using their natural resources in a sustainable and efficient manner, contributing thus to the socio-ecological balance in these communities. Seven communal banks have been created and several projects focused on reforestation, organic agriculture and rural micro enterprises are being implemented.
